1/4th Battalion (TF) Gordon Highlanders
This site is intended as a gathering place for information, images
and research concerning the 1/4th Battalion (TF) The Gordon Highlanders,
during the Great War of 1914-18. This is very much a work in progress,
in fact it is unlikely that it will ever be "comlpete".
In addition to being a source of information, the site is intended
as a tribute to the men of the battalion who served with such distinction
in the Great War.
I am adding information to the site frequently, if not regularly.
I have just (Dec 2008) returned from a research trip gathering information
which I hope to include in the New Year. As well as working on a
narrative history of the battalion, I am compiling a casualty database,
correcting my transcription of the Battalion war diary and collating
a number of secondary sources. Future plans include an attempt to
link casualties with particular actions (begun in a limited way
with the study of the
Second Battle of Bellewaarde) and locations which might be of
special interest to individuals seeking more information of relatives.
In addition, these will be linked to a chronology of the Battalion's
activities and such biographical data as may be discoverable.
A new gallery of photographs is being added under the biographical
details tab.
If you are seeking information on a relative I would be more than
happy to search through my database, much of which cannot be made
easily available here. Please drop me a note through the link below.
You might also have a look at the guide to research under the sources
and data tab above.
